Set up an office kiosk: let staff clock in without logging in

Register an office tablet or PC, approve it, and leave it on the clock-in page so staff clock in with their employee number and PIN.

Updated Nov 5, 2026

A kiosk is an office tablet or computer that stays on one page, /kiosk. Staff type their Employee # and a PIN, then tap Time in, Break out, Break in or Time out. They don't log in to GodoERP.

Kiosk punches are saved as normal attendance punches. They show on HR › Attendance and the DTR, and payroll uses them like any other punch. Portal clock-in at /my records to the same place. See Employee self-service.

Each company has its own kiosk address: your company address followed by /kiosk. A tablet set up for one company works only there.

Before you start

  • HR is turned on for your company and included in your plan.
  • You have the attendance permission (hr-attendance).
  • Employees have an Employee #. See Add employees.
  • Pick a device that will stay at the office. Don't log in to GodoERP on it.

Register a kiosk

  1. Open HR › Kiosk Devices.
  2. Type a name, for example "Front desk tablet", and click Add & get setup link.
  3. Copy the setup link. It is shown once.
  4. Open the link in the browser on the tablet and click Register this device. The page says Waiting for HR approval.
  5. Back in HR › Kiosk Devices, click Approve.
  6. On the tablet, open your company address plus /kiosk. You should see the clock with the Employee number and PIN boxes.

Important: The setup link works one time and expires after 24 hours. Opening it only shows a confirm page, so a chat app's link preview can't use it up. Don't share it. Check that the device in the list is the real tablet before you approve it.

Leave it running

  • Bookmark the /kiosk page and set it as the browser's home page, or use Add to Home screen.
  • Always use the same browser on that tablet. The tablet keeps a secret in its browser. If you clear the browser's cookies or data, the tablet shows Device not set up and you need a New link.
  • Set the screen not to sleep if you can.

What the status means

Status Meaning
Waiting for approval Registered, but HR hasn't approved it. Nobody can clock in yet.
Approved Staff can clock in on it.
Disabled HR switched it off. It can't be used until you Enable it again.

The list also shows Last used, From IP and who approved it.

Manage a kiosk

  • Approve / Disable / Enable: change whether it can be used.
  • New link: makes a new setup link and cancels the old registration. Use it for a replacement tablet, a cleared browser or a lost device.
  • Remove: deletes a kiosk that never recorded a punch. Once a kiosk has punches it can't be removed, so the history keeps its name. Disable it instead.

If a tablet is lost or stolen, click Disable right away.

Adding, approving, disabling, enabling, new links and removals are written to the Activity Log. The setup link itself never is.

Next: Kiosk PINs and clocking in.
